looking for opinions...

[S-Mart Manager]

so i've written a new song. i did it at 5 in the morning when i couldn't sleep and decided that sounded like a good idea. i tuned my guitar weird(kind of sounds bad, but i kind of like it) and wrote a simple and very wussy generic song. i kind of like it though. i've recorded 2 versions of it and i was wondering opinions on them. i'm kind of leaning towards the slower 2nd version(more of a work in progress. any thoughts/comments are appreciate. you've been warned though, these are very wussy/emo. also, i HIGHLY suggest downloading instead of using the streaming player. sounds a lot better.

Well, being a chick I have to say I love the "emotional" feel/aspect of the tune. I also agree with the others that version 2 is "better". I am not a musician, but I'll do my best to describe what it is I like about version 2. I think the more stripped down sound on version 2 fits the lyrics/mood of the song better. There's also some kind of "hollow"/echo effect (again, excuse my lack of technical terms) on version 2 that really adds something to the vocal - makes it seem even more yearning/wistful. i had planned on recording 2 EPs this summer, one of the morbid acoustic love songs and another of acoustic misfits covers. i've since decided to put those together onto one CD and do a sepparate EP of the more serious emotional stuff.

appreciate the comments and thoughts. i like how the vocals sound on that version as well, especially the sections after the verses. i actually want to try re-doing the verses as i think i could do better.

it's all done using the built in mic on my G4 Powerbook. the program i use is called Garageband. and yes, i multi-track. it's really nice to be able to go threw and add little extra bits and polish stuff up. thanks for the kind words all. this is the only board i've posted this on because you guys are the only ones i actually feel i could get some decent answers and support from.
